Larry Tetmeyer
February 17, 1943 — October 26, 2025
Lawrence Eugene Tetmeyer, 82, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Larry was born (in 1943) and raised in Ottumwa, IA, and graduated from Ottumwa High School.
Larry worked for Hy-Vee for many decades, and met and married the love of his life, Carol, in 1964. Larry was thrilled that a city girl like Carol married a farm boy like him. Together they added a son and four daughters to their family; Andy, Annette, Trish, Jenny, and Kelli. Larry and Carol enjoyed a simple, peaceful life living in the country and traveling the world together. Larry loved his family fiercely, and lived his life serving and protecting them.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Carol; parents, Charlotte and John Tetmeyer; and siblings, Dave and Johnny Tetmeyer.
He is survived by brothers, Mike and Bob Tetmeyer; son, Andy (Kate) and their children Ruby, Drew, Bridget; daughter, Annette (Michael); daughter, Trish and her children Kayla and Dylan; daughter, Jen (Paul) and their children Regan, Morgan, Camryn, and Evelyn; and daughter, Kelli and her children Marika, Sedrik, and Emma.
Larry will be greatly missed, but we know that he and Carol are happily reunited and watching over all of their loved ones.
Memorial service will be held Friday, October 31, 2025 at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High Street in Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with Mass starting at 10:00 a.m. and burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, 524 NW 54th Avenue in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Camp Hantesa, 1450 Oriole Road Boone, Iowa 50036 in Larry and Carol’s name.

Jen & Kelli,
So sorry to hear that your Dad has passed. He and your Mom were a great couple. Enjoyed our interactions with Camp Fire, dance and swimming. Ally was just remembering Saturday how Larry would make her some special cookies without almond extract (because of her allergies). Lots of good memories - hang on to those.
