Larry Lee Wiese

Larry Wiese, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was born December 28, 1937 in Crystal Township, Iowa to parents, Wilbert and Ethel (Thompson) Wiese.

Larry spent most of his childhood in Tama, Iowa. He then attended the University of Iowa and achieved a degree in accounting. Larry loved to raise his horses and mend to his beloved dogs. Larry took on the title of many different occupations throughout his lifetime. He worked for the IRS as a branch manager. After retirement, Larry worked at DMACC’s Testing Center and Dessa’s Used Car Auctions. Larry also enjoyed working his summers at the Iowa State Fair.

Larry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Wiese; daughter, Shelly (Doug) Sandquist; grandchildren, Shannon (Brian) Uglum, Brandon (Miranda) Wiese, Blake (Kayla) Sandquist, Tony Sandquist, and Lexa Sandquist; survived by 11 great grandchildren; brother, Marlin “Bud” (Geri) Wiese; along with many beloved family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Ethel (Thompson) Wiese; son, Randy Wiese; and brother, Arlan Wiese.

Memorial services will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home in Altoona, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm.
