Lillian Ruth Lynner
December 13, 2024 — December 14, 2024
Lillian Ruth Lynner was born on December 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. to Andrew and Natalie Lynner. Her father caught her with both hands and a bold heart as she slid into this world and almost onto the hospital floor. She opened her eyes and looked directly into the face of her astonished mother. Lillian defied all odds. During pregnancy, she was diagnosed with caudal regression which was thought to be incompatible with birth. Her heart continued to beat. If born, she was expected to live only a few minutes. Lillian lived ten hours. She spent every hour of her short life either in her father’s arms or on her mother’s chest. Her life was peaceful and full of love. She grunted, yawned, looked around, flexed her fingers, and happily snuggled into her parent’s embrace. We marveled at our courageous and tenacious daughter and wished we could have a lifetime with her. We take comfort in our belief that she will be ours eternally. Lillian returned to her home in heaven sleeping in her mother’s arms shortly after midnight on December 14, 2024.
Lillian is survived by her loving parents Andrew and Natalie Lynner, siblings Thomas, Abigail, and her twin sister Charlotte, grandparents Carolyn Lynner, Keith Thornton, Linda Godwin, and Robert Banta, and adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Tom Lynner and her grandmother Luann Banta.
Lillian Ruth Lynner was named after her beloved great-grandmother, Ruth Courson Lynner.
A family graveside service will be held to celebrate Lillian’s precious life on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Dear Natalie and Andrew,
I’ve been thinking about you so much. Lillian Ruth’s story is both heartbreaking and beautiful—what a fierce little soul she is, defying the odds and spending her entire life wrapped in the love of her parents. The way you held her, loved her, and marveled at her in those precious hours is such a testament to your strength and the depth of your love.
Charlotte is so lucky to have you as her parents, bringing her the same love and care that surrounded Lillian.
Please know I’m here for anything you need. You’re navigating something so impossibly hard with so much grace, and I admire you endlessly for it.
Sending you so much love and strength,
Tali
