Service Details

Lonni Lynn Docter was a courageous son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who left this world on August 22, 2023, to be with his beloved Lord and Savior. Lonni was born on August 16, 1958, to his parents Marlin and Ruth.

After graduating from Dallas Center High School in 1976 he attended Northwestern College on an art scholarship in Orange City, Iowa for two years. He moved to Tucson Arizona in 1978 and became an independent contractor and entrepreneur serving the Southern Arizona Community for over 30 years. He designed and built a custom home in Tucson and helped erect a cabin on Mt. Lemmon which reflected his creative and industrious abilities.

Some of his hobbies were collecting old cameras, astronomy, and photography. He appreciated being outdoors, enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. He obtained the honor of Eagle Scout while in High School.

Lonni had the opportunity to travel worldwide experiencing different cultures, geography, and customs. Some of the wonderful locations he visited were Alaska, Europe, the Holy Land, Cuba, and Bahamas. His love for God was expressed in his support of building churches in other countries to spread the gospel.

He was diagnosed with early onset Parkison’s Disease at the young age of 37 years. He fought this insidious disease in his own way. He spent the last 25 years researching, using naturopathic and holistic healing practices to get the most out of each day of his life. Lonni found comfort and strength in his faith in God while navigating the difficulty of his illness.

Lonni is survived by his children Jonathan and Jeana (Christopher); grandson Harrison; his father Marlin; mother Ruth; his caregiver and companion Sheryl and many friends and family.

There will be a celebration of Lonni’s life in Iowa. (Date and time to be determined)

In lieu of flowers, Lonni would be honored if donations were made to help grandson Harrison continue his Christian Education. Cards and donations can be sent to the care of Jeana Docter, P.O. Box 837, Simi Valley, CA 93062.

Psalm 91:1-2
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
