Korrenia “Korky” Marie Nuzum, 57, passed away on December 28, 2023.
Korrenia was born September 14, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents John and Delores Easley.
She found joy in tending to her yard, including building anything necessary to make it look like home, and truly embraced the outdoors. Korrenia was a woman of Faith and actively contributed to the warm embrace of Grace Church. Korrenia, honest and resilient, fiercely advocated for her family. Her bond with her sisters was unbreakable, sharing daily conversations that filled their lives with laughter and love. Above all, she reveled in the roles of being a devoted boy mom and a loving grandma, infusing her home with warmth, love and a sense of togetherness.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Nuzum Sr.; sons, Steve (Ashley) Nuzum Jr., Mike (Monique) Nuzum, and Brian (Kaylee) Nuzum; 9 grandsons, Mikel Jr., Jordan, Cole, Drew, Gavin, Parker, Logan, Levi, and Hudson; 5 sisters, Dee (Gaylon) Gilman, Edna Smith, Ruth Head, Karla (Chris) Valentin, and Ronda (Bob) Nuzum.
Korrenia is preceded in death by her parents, John and Delores Easley; and grandparents, Waldo and Ruth Morrison.
Family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 121 N.W. 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral service will begin directly following visitation at 12:00 p.m., also at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Pine Hill Cemetery, 524 NW 54th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
The family invites you to join them at a reception following the burial back at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 121 N.W. 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Korrenia Nuzum.

Its hard for me to write this, it means youre really gone. I know youre in Heaven and in no pain, but I miss talking to you. I miss laughing, crying, and praying together. Im glad for the time we did have, and I know we will see each other again. There is a bond sisters have, and Im glad you were my sister.
