Keith Russell Silver

Keith Russell Silver, 95, passed away, on July 18, 2024, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa, after a brief illness.
He was born April 5, 1929, to Roy and Winifred (Vertz) Silver and spent his childhood with his seven brothers and sisters on their family farm near Altoona, Iowa.
Keith married his beloved wife Shirley on November 26, 1948. He worked for John Deere in Ankeny for 26 years until he retired in 1993. He enjoyed attending Iowa State football and basketball games with Shirley and getting together with friends. Keith loved all family gatherings, especially on holidays, birthdays, and reunions at the farm. He delighted in listening to Shirley play the piano. Keith will be remembered as a pet lover and a kind and generous person with a sharp sense of humor.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, and all his siblings, Roy, Wilma, Don, Wilbur, Evelyn, Ralph, and Carl. He is survived by his children Doug (Wendy) Silver and Diane Silver, both of Urbandale, IA, granddaughters Lauren (Andy) Lynn and Kristen Silver, both of North Liberty, IA, their mother, Anna Silver, of Urbandale, IA, great-granddaughters, Ainsley and Charlotte Lynn, sisters-in-law Virginia (Ralph) Silver of Altoona, IA, and Chris (Carl) Silver of Sturgis, SD, and nieces and nephews.
The family will be present for the visitation on Wednesday, July 24 at 10:00 am at Trinity on Fifth, 602 5th Ave SW, Altoona, IA. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am at the same location with a reception immediately following the service.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Spurgeon Manor and St. Croix Hospice staff for their care and compassion toward Keith.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity on Fifth Church in Altoona or the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Keith.

Diane, I saw your dad’s obituary and it reminded me of the
“good ole” days in Ankeny and how special your parents were.
