Karen Wayman, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Genesis Senior Living Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family.

Karen was born July 22, 1942, in Des Moines.

She enjoyed the simple things in life - sitting on her porch, drinking Pepsi and smoking cigarettes, and reading a good book. She was talented at crocheting and baking, her pies and breads are favorites with her family. Karen was an Elvis Presley and John Wayne fan. Above all, she loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Ritter (Larry), son Lance Wayman (Gisela), grandchildren Jeremy Wayman, Ashley Wayman (Robert), Freedom Parker, and Jennifer Klinge (Dennis), 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her grandsons Larry Ritter, Jr. and Marcus Wayman.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
