Service Details

Kathleen Louise Stacy entered eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 21, 2023.

Kathy was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord, her husband, and family. She grew up in Neligh, Nebraska participating in Methodist Club, Job’s Daughters, Girl Scouts, band, and mixed chorus.

She married the love of her life, Larry Stacy, on January 31, 1970. They married right out of boot camp. Sargent Stacy was in the Marine Corps four years. During that time, they lived in Navy Memphis, Morehead, NC, and Havlock, NC. Larry was deployed to many exotic places, and Kathy had a lot of protectors while he was away. Including, but not limited to, a hillbilly with a shotgun on his porch, a brazen older lady with a pistol, and fellow Marine brothers that would protect her at all costs, so they could get more of Kathy’s cooking. Kathy kept house and Larry looking his best in uniform. When Larry was asked to enlist for another six years, Kathy declared, “I have stood my last inspection! I have spit shined my last boots, and polished my last brass. No way!”

Kathy was an extremely talented sewer. She had a drapery business, then quilting business in mid-life. Kathy and Larry headed up several church youth retreats, where Kathy did all the cooking and logistics. She served the Lord through church banquets, youth mission trips, and sewing costumes, banners, or anything church members needed. She lovingly made hand-embroidered Iowa Hawkeyes shirts for her husband, the best dinosaur costume for her son, and the most beautiful dresses for her daughter. She cared about the little details in her sewing work, making everything special for the people she loved.

Kathy and Larry moved to Spencer, IA recently, to be closer to their younger grandchildren. Kathy got to see them almost every day, and it gave her unending joy this last year. She is survived by husband of 54 years, Larry. She also leaves a daughter, Kimberly and her husband Brad Peterson and their children Cedric and Hannah; and a son, Joe and his wife Jamie Stacy and their children Karma and Charysma Stacy.

Kathy loved Hope Ministries. She was a faithful giver by supporting their cause for most of her life. This Thanksgiving her and her husband donated 100 meals to those in need at Hope Ministries.

Services will be held at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW, Bondurant, Iowa on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Bondurant Cemetery.
