Kathleen "Kathie" P. Parker
June 24, 1951 — October 24, 2024
Kathleen Pearl Parker, age 73, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Kathie was born June 24, 1951, in Carlisle, Iowa to Virginia (Leclaire) and Samuel Gray. She loved her family and took great pride in being a caretaker to them and to all her children’s friends as well. She was the “community mother”, always extended her home and love to others. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished time with them.
Kathie enjoyed coaching her daughter’s softball team and loved her dogs. She liked riding motorcycles and drag racing, taking trips, especially to Branson, and stopping by casinos along the way. Kathie enjoyed playing cribbage, cards, and games, and liked watching “I Love Lucy” reruns. She retired from Mercy South in 2012 as a healthcare receptionist.
She is survived by her husband, Craig Parker; children, Mike (Nora) Parker, Jennifer Parker, and Craig “Chip” Parker; grandchildren, Brooke Parker and Tatiana Hollaway; great-grandchildren Jax and Dylan “DJ”; sister, Marion; and her nieces, Kathy, Brenda, and Paula.
Kathie was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Parker; grandchildren, Jayce Parker and Parker Allen; parents, Samuel and Virginia Gray; and her brothers, Jack, Bob, and Edward.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with cremation after the service. Urn burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Ridgedale Cemetery, Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kathie.

My heart goes out to all of you. Kathy was a fun person to be around and always tried to make you laugh but help you at the same time. My wish is for you all to find some sort of peace through all of this and try to be happy for her she's not hurting anymore. God bless you all 🥰
