Juan Soto Flores

Juan Soto Flores, age 37, passed away on April 23, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines, IA. Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Juan will be laid to rest in Mexico.

Juan was born on June 27, 1987 in Zacatecas, Mexico. At the age of 7, he moved to the United States with his family. He attended Valley High School where he met his future wife, Maria Teresa Silva Reyes. They married in January of 2010 and raised their family in West Des Moines. Juan last worked for RTL Equipment as a parts specialist. In his free time, Juan enjoyed fishing with his children, taking them to the park and listening to music. Juan had a love for animals and was great at pulling pranks on those around him. He never failed at cracking a good joke.

He is survived by his wife, Maria T. Silva Reyes; his children, Juan Soto-Silva, Daniel Soto-Silva and Maria Elena Soto Silva; his mother, Maria De La Luz Flores Montalvo and father, Samuel Soto Murillo; his brother, Omar Soto; sisters, Lucy Soto Flores and Angelica Soto Flores; and his loyal companion, Chester the family dog.
