Joseph A. Luna

Joseph Anthony Luna, age 42, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines surrounded by his family.

Joseph was born December 13, 1980, in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard Luna, Sr. and Neva Davis.

He enjoyed spending time with his girls and his family. Joey was known for making all those around him smile and being the life of the party. He had a gift of being the ice breaker in any uncomfortable situation.

He is survived by his daughters, Madalynn and Brenna; his father, Richard Luna, Sr.; his siblings, Benita Church, Kathy (Alfonso) Medina, Richard (Phyllis) Luna, Jr., Michelle (Humberto) Salazar, Sonja Luna, Jason (Krissi) Luna, Sr., and Celeste (Beto) Luna-Hernandez; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Neva Davis; daughter, Sheridan Brooke Luna; sister, Angela Billings, niece, Tina Walker; and brother-in-law, David Church.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Joseph.
