Joseph “Joe” Michael Fazio, 74, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society and then on into the arms of Jesus. He will be inurned with military honors on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow close by, at the American Legion Hall, 910 Main Street in Van Meter, with Pastor Brian Stanley officiating.

Joe was born July 27, 1949, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph and Mary (Nichols) Fazio. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1967 and received an Associate of Arts degree from DMACC ("Area 11") in 1974. On June 30, 1967, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and ultimately served as an Admin Specialist in Cameron Bay Vietnam. After he completed his duty in the Air Force, he was employed at and eventually retired from Titan Tire. Joe was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed his cats as well as playing pool, golfing, and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed gardening, grilling and sitting by the fire at his fireplace and fire ring. Joe was passionate about charity with his contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, ASPCA, and St. Jude.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Tracey Marie Fazio, and son, Joseph (Tina) Fazio Jr., both of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Ian, Nolan, Hannah, Brittney, and Whittney; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Chloe; and his siblings, Nancy (Ron), Jim, Mary (Ken), Terri (Doug) and Michelle; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary, and his former wife, Pammy Job.
