Jonnie Wright

Jonnie Marie Wright, 82, passed away January 19, 2024 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born May 27, 1941 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to her parents, Thurman and Jessie Elkins.

Jonnie enjoyed traveling, especially to Texas where she and her husband wintered. She took great pleasure in cooking homemade meals for her friends and family. Jonnie also enjoyed quilting and crafts of all kinds. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved fiercely and had a heart of gold that will be deeply missed.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Theresa Hill, Carol (Mike) Waddell, Mike (Shannon) Wright, and Tim Wright; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil “Gene” Wright; son, David Wright; granddaughter, Pamela Hill; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Wright.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
