Johneta "Jonnie" Horner

Johneta Jean Horner, 93, passed away October 19, 2023 at her home.
Jonnie was born September 15, 1930, in Oskaloosa, Iowa to John and Hazel (Beaver) DeWitt. She grew up in Oskaloosa. Jonnie loved driving race cars. In 1965, she moved to Chicago where she worked at Andy’s Jazz at 5. While working there, she met a number of famous people. Jonnie moved back to Iowa in the 1970’s and resided on Des Moines’ southside. She was a waitress at various places, the Brew Haus and Park Avenue Pub, just to name a few. Jonnie traveled extensively and loved going on cruises, especially to Alaska. One of her favorite pastimes was “people watching”. Jonnie loved spending time with her grandchildren and making goulash for them.
Jonnie is survived by her children, Frank (Linda) Myers, Linda Myers-Butler, Raymond “Sonny” Timmerman, Jr. and Raedene (Dick) Dillinger; 12 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Myers, Raymond Timmerman, Sr. and Jack Horner; sister, Margaret Cooper; and her step-brother, Michael Courtney.
A Celebration of Jonnie’s Life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 beginning at 1 pm at 5644 33rd Avenue in Norwalk.

I've waited to write. Can't think of the right words. Loved your silly funny way of looking at life. You will always be "Mom" .. So sorry we lost touch these last couple of years. Sonny, I am sorry to hear this. She lived a long eventful life and she was so much fun to be around. My condolences to you and all her family.
