John C. Frost

John Charles Frost, age 63, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at Methodist Hospital Saturday, January 4th, 2025.
He was born on March 10th, 1961 in Des Moines, IA to Jack and Donna Frost of Ankeny, IA.
Growing up he attended both Ankeny High School and Kemper Military School, becoming a Sergeant in the United States Army.
John was Active Duty from 1979-1987, then becoming Ready Reserve until 1990. After his Military career ended he became a truck driver for Blunt Limited, before settling down with Des Moines Cold Storage for over 30 years.
He was a big kid at heart! He loved collecting Hot Wheels, die casts, and other collectibles. He enjoyed his old cartoons and black and white shows. Every Saturday, John enjoyed spending time with his Mom and family playing Dominoes and just chatting.
John is survived by his loving wife of 41+ years Janet, his children Jolene(Keith), Joshlynn and Johnell; who all meant the absolute world to him, as well as beloved pets Jazz cat and Faye dog. His mother Donna, his siblings Jack, Judy(Curt) and Jimmy(Yvonne). His grandchildren Quinton, Preston, Jordan(Leo), Jakob(Chloe), Kailey and Keith. His great-grandchildren Isis, Greyson, Zek, Nova and Theo. Alongside a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack A. Frost and his brother, Jerry C. Frost.
Family will greet friends Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 from 1:00-2:00pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Memorial services to follow at 2:00pm. Burial to take place at a later date at Rest Haven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

I was so very sorry to hear of John’s passing. It has been many years since I have seen or spoken to any of you. I also did not know about Jerry. I hope God’s love and Grace will surround each of you and you will find some comfort there.

Oh Dear Frost’s, Whatever you are feeling and whenever you are feeling it’s ok. All feelings are valid. We are here for all of you for anything you need. This is so hard. We are blessed to have had John as a best friend. A true life long friend. We enjoyed so many good times and some tough times. John made a big impact on our lives and our daughters and their family’s. We are glad he could be a part of our family and we could be a part of his. We will always miss him dearly.

Working with Frost at Des Moines Cold ,I was truly blessed to have him as a friend and a brother. My heart is heavy to hear of John's passing. Condolences to the family and friends. God bless!!!
