Jo Ann Hartle

Jo Ann Evans Hartle, 96, died on January 5, 2024 at Brio of Johnston. Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, IA at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one-half hour prior. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. The service will be livestreamed.
Jo Ann was born October 5, 1927 to parents, Harry and Mary (Landers) Evans in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended school in Des Moines and graduated from East Des Moines High School with the class of 1945. She went to the University of Iowa and graduated in 1949 with a Business degree from the College of Commerce. She worked as Secretary to the District Manager at Dun and Bradstreet, Inc in Des Moines for five years.
She met Jack Hartle when he was home on leave from the service. After Jack graduated from the University of Iowa, they were married on March 12, 1950. They were blessed with two daughters, Sherri (Mark) Jensen and Jil (Steve) Hetzel and enjoyed 64 years together.
Jo Ann and Jack loved their family and enjoyed being with them. The also enjoyed traveling, dancing, golf and many spectator sports. JoAnn was known for the happy smile on her face.
Jo Ann was a member of La Sertoma, the Des Moines Pioneer Club, Westminster Presbyterian Church and several bridge groups. She volunteered at Iowa Lutheran Hospital for many years in the Gift Shop.
She is survived by her daughters; four grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Rasmussen, Nick (Linda Crisman) Hetzel, Kristin (Jon) Lewis and Nicole (Matt) Kunze; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary or Brio of Johnston, Elan Cottage. The family would like to thank the staff at Brio for their attentive and loving care these past four years.

So sorry to hear of losing your Mother, Sherri. My sympathies to you and your family. Losing a Mother, Grandmother, friend and more is never easy. Your family pictures are a great tribute to a long life of memories. Boy do you look like your Mother! Blessings
