Jim Dean Roush

Jim Dean Roush, 73, of Des Moines, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Taylor House in Pleasant Hill.

Jim was born on May 30, 1950 in Saylorville Township, IA to parents Donald and Ruth (Moore) Roush. Jim was a hard worker by nature, always doing what needed to be done in support of his family and friends. He did a stint as an over-the-road trucker with his brother Robert. He also worked in road construction, meat processing, and property management, amongst other jobs.

He loved his family, his close friends and every dog he came across. Jim was diligent about taking care of his parents, assisting with transportation, home repairs and the upkeep of the gardens.

He is survived by his children, Stormi Roush, Shawn (Christina) Roush, Stephen Roush; grandchildren, Samantha (Peder) Larson, Jodi (Erik) Guerra, Jared Roush, Cara Roush, Trinity Roush, Zach Roush and Haileigh Roush; six great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth Roush; brothers, Roger Roush, Bill Light and Robert Light; sisters, Mary Philips and Rose Dunn; and nephew, Kevin Philips.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines followed by a graveside service at Jordan Cemetery also in West Des Moines, IA.
