Jeff Blonigan

Jeffrey “Jeff” Blonigan, 64, passed away on May 27, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines.

Jeff was born on February 16, 1962, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to William and Carolyn (Spivey) Blonigan. He served in the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and later in the Air National Guard. Jeff lived and breathed airplanes. Following his retirement from the military, he worked for General Atomics and enjoyed a long career in aeronautics. Jeff loved the outdoors and being on the water. God, family and fun was how he prioritized his life.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Blonigan; sons, Benjamin, Nicholas and Jeremy (Maria) Blonigan; grandson, Samuel; his siblings, Jim Blonigan, Dave Blonigan and Lynda (Travis) Westling; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Stephen Blonigan, William Blonigan Jr. and Stephanie Andreasen.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2214 E. 2nd Avenue in Indianola, Iowa. Jeff will be laid to rest with military honors at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
