Jeanette Marie Ashby, 73, was born June 3, 1951, in Radford, Virginia. She passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2024, in her home in Des Moines.

Jeanette graduated from Des Moines Area Community College. She worked as an administrative assistant for Homes of Oakridge, Inc. and UnityPoint Health - Blank Children’s Hospital, both in Des Moines. She was a member of Kyles AME Zion Church. Jeanette enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and puzzles. Her greatest love was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Marcus (Paula) Green, Marshelle Green, and Latina (Marcus) Foster; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, David (Terri) Curry, Steven (Kari) Curry, and Clarence Talton; sisters, Josie Green and Stella Simpson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Rudolph Green; mother, Catherine (Carter) Talton; daughter, Nashana Ashby; and her siblings, Catherine “Cathy” Talton, Don Curry, and Frances Curry.

There will be a memorial service at Kyles AME Zion Church, 907 15th Street, Des Moines, IA 50314, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11 a.m.
