Jeane Underwood

Betty Jeane Underwood, 101, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Jeane was born on January 16, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to C.W. “Biff” and Marguerite “Margie” (Daily) Cameron. She was a January 1943 graduate of East High School. Before her retirement, she worked for the State of Iowa in the Agriculture Department, followed by more than twenty years in real estate. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and continued golfing well into her 80s, as her health allowed. Jeane also had a deep love for the four-legged “children” she shared with her husband, Bob.

She is survived by her son, John Ruppe; step-daughters, Susan (Steven) Krantz, and Robin Lipich; grandchildren, Doug (Julie) Krantz and Kathryn Krantz; and great-grandchildren, Brandon (Taylor) Krantz, Abby Krantz and Nicholas Lipich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Underwood; and brother, Cliff Cameron.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
