Jean Birlingmair

Jean Kristine Birlingmair, 71, passed away on December 28th, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center due to complications of COPD and Pneumonia.

Jean was born on September 5, 1952, in Des Moines to James and Melba (Mash) Crigler. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines Southside and a Lincoln High graduate class of 1970. Jean worked at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield for 22 years until retirement in 2015. Following her retirement, she was active with her class reunion planning committee, loved socializing with her many friends, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially her beloved dog Lola.

Jean is survived by her children Christopher Scott Birlingmair (Becca), Sarah Leonard (Charles) grandchildren, Taylor Leonard, Alexanderia Birlingmair , Shannon Birlingmair , Trinity Leonard and Mary Brink, sister Carole Zupan (Lynn) as well as her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister.

Per her wishes she has been cremated with a celebration of life open house February 10, 2024, at Walnut Woods State Park Lodge from 11am to 3pm
