Janiece was a gem. She knew the history of both Beaverdale VFW Post 9127, and the history of this corner of Des Moines better than anyone. She was always full of life, fun to be around, and seemed to always have an optimistic outlook. I’ve missed seeing Janiece at the Post, and I will never forget her. #RIP

Sorry to hear of your loss. I met Janiece through the VFW Auxiliary many years ago. I remember the days when she worked at state VFW Headquarters - Janiece & Colleen were so knowledgeable and helpful that they handed out with a smile and lots of encouragement. The two of them were happy, bubbly and full of laughs! Another memory is the year at state convention at the last minute, I decided to run for a state Auxiliary Office. Janiece and Colleen were working the VFW table and they made up posters for me! In recent years, Janiece and I were friends on Facebook. Couple of times when I posted pictures of baked goods that husband Mike had made, Janiece responded that she could smell them! The last time I seen Janiece was up to her place at Maplewood. Mike had made bread so we took her a loaf of that homemade bread. We had a great visit! I hope that these memories brought a comfort to you. We will be keeping all of the family & friends in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.

Larry, I was so sad to hear of your Mom's passing as she was a great Mom and will be sorely missed by all. Janeice was always so much fun to be around, loved to laugh and joke and was a tough card player too. I fondly recall all of those 4 point pitch games that we played with your Mom at the ceramics shop on 6th Ave, but the best memory for me was when we played a silly "poker" game called "guts" all night at your house and just how good that breakfast tasted that your Mom had made for us. Unbelieveable, but after breakfast we continued playing cards on into the morning, so who needs sleep when your 18? Great memories of the good old days are so cherished ... keeping you and your family in our prayers.

Larry and families,
I was so surprised to hear of your Mother's passing. I sure enjoyed your Mother during the years she lived at Maplewood. I know she will be missed by many at Maplewood and remembered.
