Janet Milligan

Janet Arlene Milligan, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025.

She was born on June 24, 1944, to Phillip and Irene Barron in Chariton, Iowa.

Janet dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a CNA at Mercy Hospital before retiring. A devoted member of All Saints Catholic Church, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life—camping, fishing, and visiting Prairie Meadows. Janet will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children: Jerry Milligan Jr., Cindy Beckwith (Ray Stamper), and Debbie Milligan; her grandchildren: Jessica Milligan Boyles (Chad Boyles), Andrea Milligan (Adam Hazelwood), Cassi Beckwith (Danny Naumu), Callie Bates, and Brodie Bates (Ashley); and her great-grandchildren: Kamalani Naumu and Lillith Bates Russo. Janet is also survived by her sisters, Geraldine Martens and Phyllis Klein, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Jerry Milligan, and her parents, Phillip and Irene Barron.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue Des Moines. Family will greet friends one-hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow services at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
