Service Details

Jameson Wandro, 12, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on February 23, 2025, after a brave and heroic battle with neuroblastoma.

Jameson was born March 16, 2012, in Des Moines. He was baptized into the Catholic faith. Jameson was a 7th grader at Meredith Middle School. He loved playing football and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. On one occasion, some of the Viking players were fortunate enough to meet Jameson, their #1 fan. He was a big “Foodie” who loved to eat and have his mom make crazy new things for him to try. Jameson was a great artist and loved to draw. He enjoyed playing video games and hanging out with his friends. When it came to the water, Jameson was a “little fish” and he loved to travel, especially to the Florida beaches. He also loved cats and recently adopted a kitten that slept with him every night.

Jameson faced his battle with neuroblastoma like a true warrior. He participated in four cancer trials to help advance research and come closer to finding a cure.

Jameson is survived by his loving parents, Grace Wandro and Jon Waters; baby sister, Charlotte; maternal grandparents, Jim and Kelley Wandro; paternal grandparents, Sam and Liz Waters; maternal great-grandmother, LuAnn Hutchins; uncles, Nate (Cierra) Wandro, Thom (Mary) Waters, Drew Waters and Joel Waters; cousins, Nora, Lucas, Everett and Rory; and a host of other family and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Kent and Connie Markham and Gallus Wandro; and his paternal great-grandparents, Al and Mary Vasey and Don and Monica Waters.

The family will greet friends Monday, March 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family asks that everyone wear their Minnesota Vikings attire or purple and gold in true Jameson style. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2926 Beaver Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa or Children’s Cancer Connection in loving memory of Jameson.
