Jim Boelling

James Edward Boelling, 74, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025.
He was born Thursday, May 18, 1950 in Villisca, Iowa to his parents, Ernest and Helen Boelling; and his other siblings, Robert Boelling, Thomas Boelling, and Melinda (Boelling) Martin.
Jim attended Jonathan Cattell Elementary School, Warren Harding Junior High School, and Des Moines Technical High School. He graduated in 1968 in the upper 13% of his class. Jim then went on to attended Grandview College. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1967 to 1977. Jim was the leading Petty Officer in charge of the Unit Color Guard and Honor Guard. He was also the Line Officer in charge and a member of the Precision Pistol Team. Jim was honorably discharged in 1977.
Jim had a passion for woodworking. He participated in numerous wood carving competitions and was a member of the Affiliated Wood Carvers Congress, Iowa State Woodcarvers Association, and the Mid-Iowa Woodcarvers. Jim worked in several woodworking businesses throughout his adult life.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Boelling; son, Joel (Michelle) Boelling; grandchildren, Landre Boelling and Lauren Boelling; sister, Melinda Martin; brother, Thomas Boelling; and numerous other loving family members.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Boelling; and brother, Robert Boelling.
Private interment will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive in Adel, Iowa at a later date.
