Jack Whisler, 86, passed away on November 29, 2023, at EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House.

Jack was born February 6, 1937, in Centerville, Iowa to Ray and Lucile Whisler. He graduated from Moulton High School in 1955.

On November 15, 1957, he married the love of his life, Grace “Lucene” Guinn. He retired from the Des Moines Union Railroad (Norfolk Southern) in 1999, after 42 years of service.

Jack enjoyed watching sports, NASCAR, and supporting his kids and grandkids in their activities. He was a handyman who could fix anything and enjoyed working in his yard.

Jack is survived by his children, Sue (Kevin) Hall, Kathy (Brad) Williams, Amy (Scott) Hutchens, and Jack (Stephanie) Whisler; grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Wolfe, Jason Williams, Tyler (Haley) Hall, Jordan (Kaitlin) Hutchens, Taylor Hutchens, Lexie Whisler and Jake Whisler; great-grandchildren, Ford Wolfe and Riley Hutchens; sister, Linda Duley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frannie and Jerry Probasco and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lucene; and brother, Joe.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Jack will be laid to rest at the Norwalk Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a charity to be determined at a later date, in loving memory of Jack.
