Jason Roy Warden
September 06, 1971 — July 09, 2024
Jason Roy Warden was born on September 6th, 1971, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. He passed away in Des Moines, Iowa on July 9th, 2024, at the age of 52. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Warden, and his mother, Gail Elaschuk.
Jason was a devoted and loving son, brother, and husband to his family. He was also a loyal, compassionate friend to many. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 30 years, Lindsay, his sister Tammie, his brother Trevor, three nephews, one niece, and his four much-loved cats (his favorite being Barbara). Jason’s many passions included playing guitar and drums, record collecting, recording his music and releasing it in vinyl format for everyone to hear, cats, mathematics, and traveling. He was a talented musician and songwriter who played in a few different bands within the local Des Moines scene. He had an amazing knack for mentoring and teaching his skills to others. His often unpredictable sense of humor gave everyone such joy and laughter. Jason's outgoing, infectiously happy personality will be greatly missed.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Hub Spot Enclosed Shelter (215 Water St., Des Moines, IA). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Furry Friends Refuge in Jason's name.

I met Jason first, then had the absolute privilege of becoming friends with him and Lindsay. He was such a funny, thoughtful, kind husband, cat dad, and friend. The love that they shared with each other was a beautiful thing to see. I will always think so highly of him and he is greatly missed.

I was Jason's first wife for a brief time almost a whole lifetime ago, and hearing this news over 30 years later makes me unutterably sad. My greatest condolences go out to his wife and family!

Very early on my parents realized he was operating at genius level. I taught him to read when he was 2/12 years old. One day he brought the Saturday edition comics from the newspaper that I read to him to me and read the whole thing he was only 3 years old. I was so excited I thought I was really a teacher but no, Jason was so intelligent he was mostly self taught in everything. Dad used to troll the used book stores so he could keep him busy I think easily read 5 or 6 Hardy boy books a week and when he ran out Nancy Drew. Excelled at swimming from the age of one. He was truly a gift to everyone. He was a kind person with a wonderful spirit he was as kind as he was talented. My first little brother rest well with Mom and Dad. Love your big sister Tammie Lynn Warden forever.

Bryan and I worked with Jason for many years and shared many laughs. Bryan and Jason were neighbors at work for several years and became great friends. Jason's unique personality, intelligence, and quick wit made our work so much more. We will miss you Jason.

Jason was one of the most thoughtful, insightful, and intelligent people I've ever met, and I will miss his presence dearly. Although he was happy to live on the fringe and not seek attention, he always offered his everything to his friends and we all knew that there was a brilliant mind and warm heart behind his quiet personality. May you find peace and harmony, old friend. I'll never forget you.
