Joseph (Joe) Orley Thompson, 67, of Des Moines, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Terri (Kimmel) Thompson, his only child, Anna Thompson, and his favorite sister-in-law, Diana Sibley.

Joseph is also survived by two sisters, two brothers, a very special sister-in-law who would do anything for him – Linda Thompson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther (Bud) and Florence (Dillinger) Thompson; brothers, Jack, Jerry, and John Thompson; and sister, Gloria (Jean) Thompson Patterson.

Joe was born on June 27, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. Joe and Terri were united in marriage on October 1, 1994. They have been married for 28 years. Joe did a few odd jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed watching westerns, his favorite NFL team – The Pittsburg Steelers, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A luncheon will held at Calvary Apostolic Church, 2611 Easton Blvd, Des Moines after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to his wife or daughter.
