Jay A. Scott II

Jay Arthur Scott II was born on December 8, 1974, to parents Jerry Scott and Judi Osborne Scott. He grew up on the East Side of Des Moines, IA and graduated from East High School in 1992. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, graduating on the Dean's list with a double degree in finance and accounting.

He began his career in corporate finance specializing in the hospitality industry in Minneapolis, MN. He then transferred to Atlanta, GA where he eventually moved out of corporate finance into restaurant management. Jay lived in Atlanta for 15 years, where he was described as the perfect southern gentleman. He moved back to Iowa in 2016.

He was an intelligent, kind, honest, caring man with a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He loved playing tricks on loved ones and friends alike.

He is survived by his mother, Judi Osborne Scott; sister, Jodi Scott Airhart; nephew, Tyler Chumbley (Ayla Stout); niece, Caitlin Scott (Daniel Potter); girlfriend, Audra Campos; and his cat, Peyton.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Darcie Scott; his father, Jerry Scott; his stepfather, Archie Hayes; his grandparents, David Osborne, Phyllis Martindale, Jay Arthur Scott I, and Maxine Scott; and several cousins.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
