Janice "Jan" Jennings

Janice “Jan” Marie Jennings, 81, from Des Moines, Iowa passed away on November 11, 2023, in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, also at Hamilton’s, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Jan was born in Des Moines and was one of seven children. She lived in Des Moines all her life and worked for a local insurance company until she retired.
Jan enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, playing the slot machines at the casino, and traveling with family and friends. She also loved sharing her political views and you were likely to get an earful if that subject was brought up. In any situation, she was always there with a kind heart, a listening ear, sound advice, quick wit, and an infectious laugh – it was always a good time when Jan was around.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert “Ellis” Jennings; sons, Jeff Jennings (Susie) and Scott Jennings (Tambra); sisters, Marilyn Hewitt and Janie Keubler (Jake); brothers, Phillip Carico (Leah) and Pete Carico; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Maxine Carico; and two brothers, Jerry Carico and Ronald Carico.
