Service Details

Jaylen Harris, 17, was called home on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Jaylen was born on October 30, 2005, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. He accepted his Savior Jesus Christ into his heart and was baptized at a young age. He moved to Iowa at age 1. He split his time between family in Iowa and Georgia, where he had many close friends as well. Jaylen had recently moved back and was attending North High School in Des Moines, where he was expected to graduate early in January 2024.

Jaylen was a lover-baby. He adored people and they just gravitated toward him. He was a typical fun-loving kid who loved dancing, video games, music, and basketball. He loved his family and friends and anyone who knew him would tell you he loved food! He formerly attended Elim Christian Fellowship Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother Jennifer Harris, his loving moms Amanda Butts and Tonya Coleman, bonus mom Tasonya Prince, dad Jucobe Mack, siblings Tyreese, Jucobe, Remecia, Keyera (Addia), Jevon (Celia), Julaya, and Xi’Aire, grandparents Debra Ramos, Nathan Butts Jr., Sallie Mack, and Ron Carter, great-grandmother Virginia Bouvette, godmothers Rhonda Robinson and Rachel Hawkins, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loving relatives.

Jaylen was preceded in death by his granny Patricia Butts, grandfather Gabriel Ramos, uncles Frank Chatwood and Warren Kunnus, and his cousin Stephon Arends.

Services will be held at New City Church 3114 SW 61st Street, Des Moines at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 with visitation for two hours prior from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed through the link below.
