Jordan L. Emery
June 17, 1942 — August 15, 2024
Jordan Leroy Emery, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his home The Rose of East Des Moines.
Jordan was born June 17, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa to Arthur and Viola (Haley) Emery. He was one of eight children. He grew up on the south side of Des Moines. During his adult life he moved around a bit calling Cedar Rapids home for several years, but for the last 25 years, Des Moines has been his home.
He loved playing cards, pitch games at his sister’s home with family, and more recently poker with his nephews. When not playing cards he would watch old western movies, wearing his cowboy hat. He had a love of dogs his entire life, in his last few years he adopted a dog named JJ that provided him with constant companionship. JJ passed away earlier this year.
Jordan is survived by his many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and all four sisters.
While we do not know what really happens when one dies, we do know that the people that love us will miss us. Jordan will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held soon, timing yet to be determined. Please contact the family if you wish to be notified of the event.

My dad Denny really enjoyed Jordan’s company. Sometimes he would peek out his window and go down when he saw Jordan taking JJ out for a walk. He was a really nice guy. We are so sorry for your loss.

I will miss Jordan's talks and laughter we shared, I worked with this man 2 days before he passed and before we went separate ways he shook my hand and said see you later buddy and that was the last time, So I will always remember that! I don't know how his past was but Jordan was a different guy today. He was kind hearted and loved to help everyone in the building. He will definitely be missed, RIP Jordan

I’ve had the honor of knowing Jordan for the last year. We would sit and talk for hours a week, talking about life, family, and westerns. He was a good friend that I’ll miss dearly. He was the kind of friend who would talk you up the second you left a room, and would always have your back if someone said something he didn’t agree with. I’m going to miss laughing at his risky jokes more than anything. I was here Everytime he came back from the hospital, ready to shake his hand and tell him how he was missed. When my grandmother passed Jordan sat in the dining room with me for hours and talked me through what I was going through. Truly one of a kind.
