Jim William Costello, 75, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

Jim was born December 15, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 - 1969. He loved his family so much, especially his granddaughters. He was a handyman around the house and enjoyed landscaping - creating ponds and waterfalls. He loved sci-fi movies and documentaries and could get lost in the stories. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine “Kay” Costello; daughter, Terri (Ron) McVey; granddaughters, Tiffany Gleba, Lauren Gleba, and Brittiany Gleba; great-granddaughter, Ava Mendez; and his siblings, Theresa “T.T.” Gill, Thomas Gill, and Chris Gill; as well as other loving family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his son, James “Jimmy” Costello; his mother and step-father, Delores (Omelia) Gill and Thomas Gill; and his siblings, Rainey Gill and Ricky Gill.

Burial with military honors will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa 50003.
