Janice Kay Connett

Janice Kay Connett passed away at her home, with her children and grandchildren by her side on September 25, 2023, at the age of 76. Per her request, her body was cremated and no services are planned.

Jan was born on August 11, 1947, at her home in Bedford, Iowa to Geleta Youvaun (Akers). Soon after she was adopted by a loving father, Clifton Fred Fine. Janice graduated from Bedford High in 1965 and attended Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as a beautician for one month and left the trade to work for Look Magazine until 1970. Jan married Edward Connett, Jr. on November 19, 1967. They were together for 54 years. During that time, she went to work for Principal Life Insurance (Bankers Life) where she retired after 31 years in 2007.

Jan was an avid animal lover, at home, she enjoyed watching and feeding the wildlife. She adopted, rescued, and took in multiple stray dogs and cats, cared for them, and let them live knowing nothing but love. Ed and Jan owned several motorcycles during their lifetime and rode thousands of miles on them together.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Shiela (Philip Breuklander) Lepley; son, Ken Connett; grandchildren, Brenna Connett, and Jaxson Lepley, whom she loved and adored; brother, Danny Fine; niece, Debbie (Geno) Pierson and family; nephew, Seth Holton; and many cousins she adored.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister.
