Ina V. Williams, 97 went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Ridges in Peoria, Arizona. She was under the care of Hospice of the Valley.

Ina was born January 13, 1928, in Colfax, Iowa to Emory A. and Pearl E. (Thomas) Erskin. She worked as a legal secretary for the Polk County Attorney’s Office and retired in 1986. After retirement, she and her husband, Gilbert spent winters in Arizona, and moved there permanently in 2014. They traveled the U. S. extensively with their travel trailer from California to Washington D. C.

Ina was extremely involved at Grandview Park Baptist Church, teaching 5th Grade Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for over ten years. She participated in the Women’s Missionary Fellowship and provided food and kitchen help for many of the church’s activities.

Later in life she learned American Sign Language and interpreted for the deaf at church services and many other events. She had many deaf friends and welcomed the opportunity to use her sign language whenever possible.

She is survived by her son, Steve Williams and wife Ev of Arizona; son, Jeff Williams and wife Darcy of Texas; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Williams; daughter, Cynthia Gandy; son-in-law, Doug Gandy; and granddaughter, Amber Gandy.

A service will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025.
