Hilster G. Clark

Hilster “Sarge” Clark, 91, passed away December 21, 2024.

Sarge was born July 17, 1933 to Ralph and Lena (Baker) Clark in Farrar, Iowa. He was a Sergeant First Class of the United States Army, serving three tours and was a recruiter for 20 years. After his retirement, he began a second career as a district manager for 15 years at Kentucky Fried Chicken. He was married to his wife, Shirley Cousins Clark in 1954 and they were married for 63 years until her death in 2017.

Sarge enjoyed fishing, gambling, gardening, watching football, and interacting with his family, especially all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Sue Carr, Jeanni Bain and Cindy (Dean) Morrison; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Emerson, Elaine Clark; brother Dick Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, and two brothers.

A private burial will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
