Heidi Ruth Jalan
April 30, 1973 — March 11, 2024
Heidi Ruth Jalan, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2024, due to complications of a medical procedure at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary’s Campus.
Heidi was born April 30, 1973, in Spring Valley, Minnesota to Ronald and Sandra (Bergemann) Halverson. She grew up in Albion, Iowa and graduated from Marshalltown High School. Following graduation, Heidi worked in the dietary department for Marshalltown Hospital. She moved to New Jersey to become a nanny, and it was there that she met her beloved husband, Anoop. The couple moved back to Iowa, and Heidi continued her employment with Marsh, Inc., Travelers Insurance, and Tile Works in the Des Moines area.
Above all, her main focus was her son, Caleb, who was her pride and joy. She loved raising him and being his mom. Heidi was a Jehovah’s Witness, and was a member of the Walnut Creek congregation. She had a generous nature and was fiercely loyal. Heidi expressed her love through gift-giving, especially to children. She enjoyed going to concerts and listening to music, and she was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeye football fan. Her passing will leave a blank space in all of our hearts.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Anoop; son, Caleb Jalan; mother, Sandy Halverson; sister, Trista Cerling; nieces, Aliya and Tylie Cerling; mother-in-law, Veena Jalan; as well as countless friends.
Heidi was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Halverson.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, also at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (www.arl-iowa.org/donate by clicking on Donate and checking the “Make this a memorial/honor gift” box to add Heidi’s name) or to the family for her son, Caleb.

Sending all our love! I remember fondly many hours we spent in service together with Rachelle and enjoying our free time together as well. No one can ever forget those dimples! She was so sweet.

To Heidi's family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Heidi will be thought of and missed until the day we see her again.
I can't wait to see her again happy, healthy, and to hear her laugh. Her laugh always made me laugh. It was infectious. Much love to you all!

I am so sorry about your sudden loss of Heidi, a wonderful and loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend.
Heidi was very generous with her gift of time and the love she gave and shared. She was also so generous with the presents that she loved to shower on my granddaughter, and others in her life.
Heidi was one to be counted on when help was needed, and she will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
I hope the comfort and love of your family and friends bring you peace in this difficult time. And may knowing that we will see her again, bring you the peace and hope needed as you go through this time of loss and sorrow.
Again, so sorry for your loss.
