Harold Seuferer
April 13, 1937 – February 23, 2025

Harold William Seuferer, 87, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on, Sunday, February 23,2025, in his home. Harold was the third son of William and Emma Seuferer born on April 13th, 1937. He and his five brothers were raised on the family farm south of Melcher.

Harold attended Melcher High School and graduated in 1955. On May 9,1959, Harold was united in marriage with Vera Rose Schaffer and together, they raised three beautiful children, Gary Joseph, John William, and Kathleen Ann. He began a career with the US Postal Service for over 30 years as a beloved mail carrier. Upon retirement, Harold also delivered car parts for Hawkeye and Carquest for several years following. He could be found in his garden, mowing the lawn or tinkering on lawn mowers in the garage at any time. He loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and being with his friends and family. You could also find him playing cribbage or at breakfast after Sunday church. Harold and Vera enjoyed nightly walks through Cottonwood in the Saylorville area.

Harold was an active member of the All-Saints Catholic Church and participated in the Knights of Columbus.

Harold is survived by his wife, Vera (Schaffer) Seuferer; children, Gary (Jan) Seuferer and Kathy (Ed) Van Roekel; grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Hay, Jessica (Shawn) Walker, Courtney (Jimmy) Tiernan, Breanna Seuferer (Cody), Joe (Jenna) Seuferer, and John (Carolyn) Seuferer; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry Seuferer, Duane (Elaine) Seuferer, and David (Sondra) Seuferer.

Harold was proceeded in death by his son, John Seuferer; parents, William and Emma (Metz) Seuferer; infant brother, Robert Seuferer; brothers, Paul Seuferer and Kenneth Seuferer.
