Bucky Vaughn

Harry N. “Bucky” Vaughn, age 87, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born September 6, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry and Cecelia Vaughn.
He proudly served in the U. S. Navy. Bucky was a Des Moines Police Officer for ten years in the 60s. He was then a Federal Marshall for three years. His true calling was in sales and he devoted his remaining working years to being a car salesman.
He loved going to Prairie Meadows with his sister to watch the horse races. Bucky was an avid fisherman and enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing.
He was an active member of Elks Lodge #98 near Pleasant Hill.
He is survived by his sons, Kent Vaughn and Kelly (Lesia) Vaughn; grandchildren, Daniella (Tony) Jensen, Anthony (Tricia) Vaughn, Shanna (Nic) Greve, and Chris Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Memphis, Remington, Bowen, Vera, Vianna, Max, Nico, and Bevin; his sister, Carol (Bob) Schmacker; and a host of extended family and many friends.
Bucky was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Vaughn and his son, Kevin R. Vaughn.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, November 18, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Elks Lodge #98, 5420 NE 12th Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50327, with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Elks Lodge #98.

I am deeply saddened . My prayers are for the Vaughn family. Bucky was the best man I ever met . He was a great father, great husband, great civil servant and a great mentor. He touched my life and so many others. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family, May good "Ole Bucky" R.I.P.
Bucky was a great man, he served his Country, His Community, and his Family.
He was a great neighbor, we shared many meals, stories and occasional tools.
We were in the same "Brotherhood of Blue" many a stories there, that can not be repeated.
We always called each other when the "KC Chiefs" played, Go Chiefs!
Bucky you truly will be missed by all. "at ease, rest easy Sir"

Kent, Kelly, Shanna, Chris, Carol and family,
I am so so sorry to learn this. My heart is broken. We were friends for so long.
I hope to be able to attend the memorial service. Just know that for now I grieve with you and hold you and the rest of your family close in friendship and love.
