Helen Marie Ryun, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home. She was born the daughter of Alvin and Helen Strauser on February 24, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Marie was a house mouse who loved creating a home. She enjoyed taking photos to capture the precious moments, especially of nature. Marie also, enjoyed all things Sci-Fi and ancient aliens. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 45 years Steve Ryun, son Jeffrey Sparks, Sr., James, and Rena, grandchildren Jeffery Sparks, Jr., and Shannon Herrera-Rosas, great-grandchildren Lilliana, Juan, Diego, and Rozlyn, sisters Connie and Cindy, and mother-in-law Marilyn Ryun.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol, and brother Gus.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
