Helen Moitzfield
September 17, 1930 — August 30, 2024
Helen L. Moitzfield was born to Carl and Grace Smith in Des Moines, Iowa. She was raised in Des Moines all her life with her siblings, Virginia, Howard, Don, Rosemary, and Margaret. All have preceded her in death. She left this world to be with her beloved husband, Carl 18 days shy of her 94th birthday.
Those left behind who will always love and miss her are her children, Darrell Draper, Karla Sanders, Howard (Cindy) Draper, and Melody (John) Hathaway, as well as her ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
Helen was known for her crocheting and for the scrubbies she made for all of her family. She was a true homemaker and baked and made candies that delighted all that were lucky enough to taste them, even causing a few fights over her world famous and somewhat well-known peanut butter fudge.
If she told you she love you “just a little bit”, you knew just how special you were to her.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
