Harriett Gerene Hodges, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Valley View Village, while under the care of Hospice of the Midwest.

Harriett was born June 27, 1930, in West Bend, Iowa to Victor and Frances (Kinkade) Robinson. She has been a resident of the Des Moines area for the past 60 years. Harriett married Richard “Lloyd” Hodges. Her family was her first priority, and she took pride in caring for her home and her family. Harriett was a member of Marquisville United Methodist Church. She loved writing letters and receiving cards.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Dan) Cornelius, Teri Rice, Dixie Crouch, and Colleen (Frank) Reyno; four grandchildren, Scott, Chris, Kyle and Kate; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Jaiden and Ryan; one great-great-granddaughter, Bella; and girls she loved like daughters, Addie Gurwell and Judy Sprague. Harriett was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lloyd and her sister, Genese.

According to Harriett’s wishes, cremation will occur and there will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Valley View Village Mission.
