Gary Jerome Toney, age 79, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Gary was born September 17, 1946, in Leon, Iowa to Thurman and Betty (Riggs) Toney. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid hunter, especially deer hunting. Gary had a passion for rebuilding cars and enjoyed NASCAR. He always looked forward to car shows, especially the Good Guys each year.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Toney; children, Michelle Toney, Troy Toney, Chris Burt (Misty), Tina Toney, and Cristy Toney (Lance); grandchildren, Nichol Felgate (Seth Rhoades), Justin Toney (Nicole), Ashley Bauman (Kyle), Brandon Burt, Hannah Johnston (Logan), and Jordan Toney (Jessica); 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Roxie Thompson and Vicki Crum; as well as other loving relatives and many special friends; and his beloved cat.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Betty Toney; brother, Lowell Craig; and his grandparents and uncles.

Cremation has occurred and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Gary will also be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
