Gary D. Ferguson

My beloved husband, Gary Ferguson, 81, passed away on September 28, 2024. Gary was the most fun-loving man. He loved people, socializing and helping anyone who came his way. Raised on a farm in Boone, he had a phenomenal work ethic and could fix any problem. He worked many jobs in his lifetime from loan officer to safety manager making sure his company’s clients followed OSHA regulations.

Gary totally redid our West Des Moines home inside and out. We enjoyed it for many years until we moved to the Elite Lodge of Ashworth. Gary loved the Lodge and spent his final days at Bickford Cottage in West Des Moines.

He leaves behind his wife Mimi Ferguson; son, Dennis (Kellee) Ferguson; daughters, Lori Hinders (Mike) and Amy McBride (Kyle); step-daughters, Stephanie Weber (Geol) and Erica Harris (Chris); sister, Donna Riddle; six grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and DJ Ferguson; and his brother, Dennis Ferguson, who was killed in Vietnam.

Celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa.

We had a wonderful 25 years together. We traveled, laughed a lot and loved life. I will miss him.
