Geneva Ann Freberg

Geneva Ann Freberg passed away on April 6, 2025, at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Des Moines.

Geneva was born on September 5, 1942, to Robert and Doloris (Hicks) Chiono in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended East High School and graduated in 1961. Geneva worked for Mercy Hospital as a certified nursing assistant. She spent a few years living in Florida and eventually moved back to Iowa to be closer to family. Geneva was an avid animal lover and also loved to cook. She had a large collection of jewelry, mostly from Avon; the Avon ladies loved going to her home and discussing jewelry with her.

Geneva is survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” Chiono; her daughter, Gina Oliver; two grandsons; and several dear friends.

Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, Sr. and Doloris; her sister-in-law, Linda; and her niece, Kathy.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at University Park Nursing and Rehab at 233 University Avenue, Des Moines in the dining hall.

In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in Loving Memory of Geneva.
