Frank “Gene” Miller, 75 years old, of Des Moines, passed away on December 1, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Diabetes.

Gene was born on May 13, 1949 to Raymond and Pauline Miller of Des Moines Iowa. He was born and raised on the Eastside of Des Moines and graduated from East High School in 1967. Gene went on to serve in the Air Force where he fought in the Vietnam War. After his time serving, he went on to work in manufacturing/distributing industry and retired in 2007. He lived most of his adult life on the Eastside of Des Moines and eventually moved to the Southside, but always consider himself an “Eastsider” and was proud of it. Lee Township against the World!!

Gene enjoyed watching Nascar races on TV and attending them with his beloved wife Debbie. They loved to travel the country, South Dakota being one of their favorite places to explore. He loved to support the Iowa Hawkeyes and had a love for German Shepards, owning many of them over the years. Another favorite place Gene and Debbie enjoyed going each year was The Iowa State Fair. They loved to eat the foods and people watch. But the thing Gene loved the most was spending time with his family. He was very proud of his sons and grandkids; and the legacy he was leaving them.

Gene was proceeded in death by his wife Debbie Miller, parents Raymond and Pauline Miller, brother Gary and sister MaryAnn.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony Miller (Heather), Aaron Miller (Erica). His grandchildren, Devun, Collin, Maddison, Gage, Caleb and Riley. His great grandchildren, James, Quynn, Emmitt, and soon to be Baby Miller.

The family will greet friends Monday, December 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Hamiltons Southtown Funeral Home 5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA. Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor.
