Franklin Foster McCullough, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines while under the care of Suncrest Hospice.

Frank was born May 3, 1938, in Bloomfield, Iowa to Elvin Luther McCullough and Vera Mable (Foster) McCullough. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for John Deere on the Cotton Line from 1959-1995. He was a Union Trustee, and a Volunteer Firefighter for Saylorville Township for over 30 years.

Frank enjoyed reading and watching movies, especially westerns and documentaries. He liked traveling and hunting in his free time. He was active in politics and was a story teller. Family will remember him fondly for his ornery streak. One of his favorite things was to enjoy a piece of pie and a good cup of coffee.

Frank is survived by his children, David McCullough, Carol McCullough, and Amy Thomas; grandchildren, Emily (Richard), Mark, Jennifer, Sara, and Eric (Kayla); fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Glenis and Cleo; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; granddaughter, Michelle; siblings, Ione, Ilene, Leola, Marilyn, Louise, and Doyle; and his parents.

There will be a memorial visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Private family burial will take place at Hopkins Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Frank.
