Evelyn Faye Tysdal

With heavy hearts, we announce Evelyn Faye Tysdal, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on April 23, 2026 at the age of 89.

Faye was the youngest of five children, born to Harvey and Mabel Anderson on January 3, 1937 in Boone County. She graduated from Boone High School in 1955. On July 29, 1956 Faye married the love of her life, Harold Tysdal. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Harold and Faye were always side by side, hand in hand. They worked hard and played harder; traveling to all 50 states and going on several cruises.

Faye was a stay at home mom until 1976 when she started her home building “hobby” under the name TLC Homes. At age 71 she built her last home. She loved building homes, gardening, cooking, baking, game nights, and was quite the April fool’s jokester.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Tysdal; son, Kevin Tysdal; granddaughter, Elisheva Balfour; parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Faye is survived by her children, Michael (Carolyn) Tysdal, Randy (Karen) Tysdal, and Kari (Paul) Nilles; daughter-in-law, Leann Tysdal; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; her first great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. Graveside service to follow at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.
