Emma Severino

Emma Harrison Severino passed away on February 23, 2025, at Karen Acres Nursing Home.

Emma was born on March 10, 1932, to Mary and George Harrison in Marion County. She lived on the family farm for 17 years, she then moved to Des Moines where she resided for the rest of her life. Emma graduated from Lovilia High School in Lovilia, Iowa. On February 16, 1951, she married Jim Severino. They were married 64 years. The couple was blessed with three children, Jim Jr., Cindy and Lauri. She was a stay-at-home mom until the children were grown, she then went to work for CDS until her retirement. Emma was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Emma is survived by her children, Jim Jr. (Rita), Cindy (Jeff) Brose and Lauri Severino; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved having everyone over for holiday dinners.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; sisters, Peg, Betty, Gerry, and Georgia; brothers, John and James; and a great-granddaughter, Nia Em How.

A private family service will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
