Elena Serrano Munoz

Maria Elena Serrano Munoz passed away at her home in Clive on July 9, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and love that will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
Elena was born on May 16, 1952, to Soledad Martinez and Ismael Serrano in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, and was raised in Texas and California. She graduated from Los Fresnos High School and earned an associate's degree from Des Moines Area Community College.
Elena worked as an executive secretary for Southwestern Bell and later as an office manager for her husband’s dental office. She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening and “forest bathing.” Health and wellness was her passion. Above all, Elena cherished her immediate and extended family with her roles as a devoted mother and grandmother bringing her endless joy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Soledad; and brother, Rogelio. She is survived by her brothers, Edward and Miguel; husband, Jon; daughters, Jen and Christina (Ken); grandson, Francis; nieces, Kayla (Brian), Marlena, and Lindsey; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. A visitation and luncheon will follow for all family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Elena.

Sorry very sorry for your loss. It is very hard to think of Elena not here! She was a caring individual, lots of fun times we had working and socializing together.
